1. Copy/paste the Lesson Plan Format Sheet from the Start Here/Course Resources into a Word document. Compare it with the Horsemanship Example in Start Here/Course Resources. In Start Here/Course Resources, open and read the document entitled Events of Instruction. In this document, each of the 9 events of instruction are explained in detail. These are the same events of instruction in column one of your Lesson Plan Format Sheet. The Performance Objective (PO) you choose for this week’s written assignment (Lesson Plan Format Sheet) is based on one of the 5 kinds of learned capabilities (verbal information – 3 types; intellectual skills – 5 types; cognitive strategies; motor skills; attitudes). You MUST know what learned capability your PO is based on, otherwise, you will be unable to create the lesson plan properly. You cannot write a lesson plan based on just what feels right – you MUST follow the guidelines. So, based on your lesson’s specific learned capability, read every table entry in the Events of Instruction document, and follow the guidelines for EACH of the 9 events of instruction. Read all of them first for an overview, and then as you fill in the details for each event in your own program, follow the guidelines.
